About the Luxe
The Rascal Luxe is Electric Mobility's flagship boot scooter. It is a Class 2 scooter: it goes up to 4 mph, for pavements, shops and days out. The frame is aluminium, to keep the weight down, and it has adjustable suspension all round and puncture-proof tyres for a steadier ride.
The seat is Electric Mobility's Comfort Deluxe seat, with a backrest that folds down (it has a small pouch) and armrests that adjust. There is a lot of room around the tiller for the knees and feet, and Electric Mobility says it suits riders from 4 ft 11 in to over 6 ft 4 in tall. It has LED lights at the front and rear, a USB socket for charging a phone, and a charging point on both the tiller and the battery box.
It comes apart for the car boot. The heaviest piece is the front section, at 10.8 kg; the seat is 8.7 kg. Without its battery the scooter weighs 32 kg.
The battery is lithium (lithium ferro-phosphate). Each Luxe was sold with one of two. The small airline-approved battery weighs 4.1 kg and can be taken on a plane, subject to the airline's own rules. The 27Ah battery weighs 6.7 kg and goes about twice as far, but it cannot be flown. Each listing says which battery that scooter has.
