About the Edge 3 Stretto
The Edge 3 Stretto is the compact version of Quantum's Edge 3. Its narrow base and mid-wheel drive, with a castor at each corner, make it very agile: it is 520 mm wide on 12.5-inch drive wheels and turns within 533 mm (21 inches). Independent Smooth Ride Suspension (SRS), with coil-over shocks, soaks up bumps for a steadier, more comfortable ride. It climbs obstacles up to 89 mm, has 74 mm of ground clearance and handles slopes up to 7.5 degrees. Every one has a USB charging port and front and rear LED fender lights, and it is crash tested.
Because each Stretto is built for its first user, much of it varies from chair to chair. The motors give 4 or 6 mph; the batteries are 2 × 40Ah or 2 × 62Ah, for a range of up to 15 miles; the drive wheels are 12.5 or 14 inches, pneumatic or solid, with knobbly tyres as an option (which make it a little wider). Seats (Contour, TB-Flex, TB3 or TB4) come in widths and depths from 10 to 20 inches, and a chair may have powered tilt, recline, lift or legs, and iLevel, which raises the seat up to 12 inches and still drives at up to 3.5 mph.
