Before you buy a used Storm
Can it go on the road?
Yes. The Storm is a Class 3 scooter, so it can go on the road at up to 8 mph and on pavements at 4 mph.
How far will it go?
Up to 24 miles on a charge (maker's figure). The rider's weight and the ground it covers both change that, so expect less on hills or rough surfaces.
What is the weight limit?
Monarch give it as 30 stone, which is about 190 kg, and in their specification table as 203 kg. We show the lower figure, 30 stone.
Can I take it in a car or on holiday?
It does not fold and weighs 150 kg with its batteries (130 kg without), so it is not one to lift into a car. Monarch say it is not suitable for air, coach or cruise travel.
Does it have a canopy?
No. Monarch sell the canopy version as a separate model, the Storm+, which is heavier (170 kg with batteries) and taller (165 cm against 133 cm).
