Before you buy a used Zest Plus

How fast and how far does the Zest Plus go?

Up to 4 mph, so it is a Class 2 pavement scooter. TGA's manual gives a range of up to 18 miles with a 14 stone (90 kg) rider; its current page says up to 20 miles, so we show the lower figure. TGA says it varies with rider weight, the surface and the terrain, and that hills shorten it a lot.

What is the maximum user weight?

160 kg (25 stone).

Will it go in my car?

TGA's manual says the Zest range is made to fit in a car boot. The Zest Plus comes apart: the seat lifts off, the battery pack lifts out in two halves and the main chassis slides away from the rear subframe. The whole scooter weighs 74 kg on TGA's page. TGA does not give the weight of each piece, and says the seat is heavy, so someone may need help lifting it.

How is it charged?

Switch it off and plug the charger into the socket on the tiller or on the battery pack, so you can charge it on the scooter or with the battery pack lifted out. A full charge can take up to 12 hours. TGA says to charge it every 4 to 6 weeks when it is not being used.

How is it different from the Zest and Zest S?

They are different models. The Zest Plus is longer and wider than the Zest, with bigger batteries in a split pack, and carries up to 160 kg against the Zest's 135 kg. The Zest S has a captain's seat with a headrest and carries up to 168 kg.
