Used TGA Supersport
The TGA Supersport is a large three-wheel Class 3 road scooter with a motorbike look, big pneumatic tyres on alloy wheels and 12 cm of ground clearance. It goes up to 8 mph and copes with rough tracks as well as roads. TGA has made it for over 30 years and sold it with a choice of batteries, seats, chassis and controls, so machines vary: each listing says what that scooter has.

Before you buy a used Supersport
How fast and how far does the Supersport go?
Up to 8 mph on the road, and 4 mph on the slow setting for pavements. On a charge it goes up to 20 miles on the standard batteries or up to 30 miles on the long-range batteries (TGA's manual; TGA's page now says 25 and 35 miles). These are the maker's figures. TGA's manual says range depends on many conditions, and hills shorten it a lot.
What is the maximum user weight?
TGA's user manual says 160 kg (about 25 stone). TGA's web page says 200 kg (31 stone). We show the lower figure. If you are over 25 stone, ask us before you buy.
Why does each listing look different?
Buyers chose options when new, and TGA has changed the specification over the years. The batteries (standard or long range), the seat (standard, wide or extra wide), the chassis (standard or long) and the controls (right or left hand) all vary. Each listing says what that scooter has, and we're happy to go through it on the phone.
Is it stable with only three wheels?
It has large wheels and anti-tip wheels at the back. TGA's manual rates it for slopes up to 21%, or 18% with the wide seat. The manual also says not to turn suddenly at full speed, especially on uneven or hilly ground, as it may tip, and to take care crossing slopes.
Can it go in a car?
Not in a car boot: it is 165 cm long without the basket and weighs 119 kg. To carry it in a vehicle, TGA's manual says to take the seat off, lower or remove the handlebars and strap everything down, and never to sit on it while the vehicle moves. It also says to store it somewhere cool and dry.
Can it go off road?
TGA sells it for use on and off road: it has large pneumatic tyres and 12 cm of ground clearance, and climbs kerbs up to 12 cm head-on. TGA's manual says not to drive it over deep, soft ground such as soft dirt, deep grass or loose gravel.
