Used TGA Breeze Midi 4

The TGA Breeze Midi 4 is a mid-size Class 3 road scooter with four wheels, suspension all round and pneumatic tyres. It goes up to 8 mph on the road, with a 4 mph setting for pavements. It is a more compact version of TGA's Breeze S. The batteries vary, and some have a canopy, so each listing says what that scooter has.

Before you buy a used Breeze Midi 4

How fast and how far does the Breeze Midi 4 go?

Up to 8 mph on the road, and 4 mph on the slow setting for pavements. TGA's manuals give a range of up to 32 km (19 miles) on the standard or older 40Ah batteries and up to 48 km (29 miles) on the long-range batteries (TGA's current page says 24 and 34 miles). TGA says hills, the rider's weight, the type of ground and using the lights all affect how far it goes.

What is the maximum user weight?

130 kg (20 stone) on older machines, in TGA's first Breeze Midi manual, and 150 kg (23.5 stone) on the current model. Check which one a listing is if you are near the lower limit.

Why does each listing look different?

The batteries (standard 50Ah, long-range 75Ah, or 40Ah on some older machines) and the canopy vary, and older machines differ from the current model in wheels, ground clearance and weight limit. Each listing says what that scooter has, and we're happy to go through it on the phone.

How is it carried in a vehicle?

The seat comes off and the tiller lies flat to make it lower. TGA says the scooter and every part taken off must be strapped down, and no one should sit on it while it travels. It is up to 138 cm long without the rear box and weighs 120 kg or more with its batteries.

How does it cope with kerbs and hills?

It climbs kerbs up to 10 cm, taken straight on. TGA's current manual gives a maximum slope of 7° at the maximum user weight, rising to 9° for a 90 kg rider (TGA's older pages said 17%, its first manual 17° or 20°). TGA says not to go beyond its maximum slope.
