Before you buy a used Sterling S700

How fast does the Sterling S700 go?

Up to 8 mph. It is a Class 3 scooter, so it can be used on the road.

How far will it go on a charge?

Up to 45 km (28 miles) is Sunrise Medical's figure, from its two 75Ah batteries. The distance you get depends on things like the rider's weight, hills, the weather and the age of the batteries.

What is the maximum user weight?

160 kg, or 25 st 2¾ lb.

What can it climb?

Kerbs up to 100 mm and slopes up to 10 degrees (with a 160 kg rider). Always take kerbs head-on.

Can I use it indoors?

It is made mainly for outdoor use. At 1500 mm long and 660 mm wide it is large, so Sunrise advises care in shops and other buildings.

How does it compare with the S425?

The S425 is the smaller Sterling road scooter: 55Ah batteries, up to 42 km (26 miles), 12-inch tyres, 50 mm kerbs and riders up to 150 kg. The S700 goes further, climbs higher kerbs and has more suspension travel, but is longer and heavier (146 kg against 117 kg).
