Sunrise Medical · mid-wheel drive powerchair

Used Sunrise Medical Q700M

The QUICKIE Q700 M is a mid-wheel drive powerchair from Sunrise Medical, with the SEDEO PRO or SEDEO PRO ADVANCED seat. It turns on the spot within an 1100 mm circle, and has 14-inch drive wheels and suspension on all six wheels. It carries up to 136 kg on a chair with C-Me (which drives with the seat raised), or 160 kg on other chairs. It suits someone who needs a well-adjusted seat with powered functions and wants one chair for home and outdoors. Each Q700 M was built to order, so the speed, batteries, seat size and powered seat functions vary from chair to chair.

Before you buy a used Q700M

How fast does the Q700 M go, and how far?

It depends on the motors fitted: Sunrise list 6, 8, 10 or 12.5 km/h (3.7, 5, 6.2 or 7.7 mph). With 80Ah batteries Sunrise's owner's manual gives 32.5 to 40 km (20.1 to 24.8 miles) on the 6 km/h motors and 25 to 32.5 km (15.5 to 20.1 miles) on the fastest; their web pages say up to 40 km. They give no figure for 50Ah or 60Ah batteries. Obstacles, rough ground, slopes, freezing weather and frequent use of the powered seat all shorten the range.

What can it climb?

Slopes up to 6 degrees. Sunrise's owner's manual gives kerbs up to 75 mm, or up to 100 mm for a user of up to 100 kg; their web pages and brochure table give 100 mm.

What is the maximum user weight?

136 kg (21 st 5 lb) on a chair with C-Me (driving while raised), and 160 kg (25 st 2 lb) on other chairs. Sunrise's web pages give 160 kg; the lower figure is in their owner's manual. If the user is over 136 kg, ask us whether this chair has C-Me.

Will it work indoors?

Yes. As a mid-wheel drive chair it turns on the spot, within an 1100 mm circle. It is 622 to 660 mm wide (Sunrise's SEDEO PRO page gives 620 to 700 mm) and up to 1190 mm long, depending on the legrests.

What powered seat functions can it have?

A chair may have powered tilt, a 300 mm seat lift (always with tilt), C-Me (driving at up to 4.5 km/h with the seat raised), a powered reclining back and powered legrests. With C-Me the user weight limit is 136 kg. Not every chair has them; they were chosen for the first user.
