Before you buy a used Q50R
How heavy is the Q50 R?
37.5 kg with its battery, or 32 kg with the 5.5 kg battery taken off. Sunrise suggests a car hoist, or two people, to lift it into a car.
How far will it go on a charge?
Up to 50 km (31 miles) on its 30Ah lithium-ion battery. That is Sunrise's theoretical figure; slopes, rough ground and kerbs reduce it. You can charge the battery on the chair, even folded, or off the chair.
How does it fold, and how small does it get?
Flip up the clip at the back, fold the footplate and push the backrest down. The battery can stay in. Folded, it is 800 mm long, 600 mm wide and 400 mm high.
How fast does it go, and what can it climb?
Up to 6 km/h (3.7 mph). It climbs kerbs up to 50 mm and slopes up to 8 degrees, and it carries riders up to 136 kg (21 st 5 lb).
Is this the same as the Q50 R Carbon?
No. The Q50 R has an aluminium frame and weighs 37.5 kg with its battery. The Q50 R Carbon has a carbon fibre frame and weighs from 14.5 kg; it has its own page.
