Before you buy a used Q100R
How fast does the Q100 R go, and how far?
Up to 6 km/h (3.7 mph). On 55Ah batteries, Sunrise's owner's manual gives a range of about 30 km (18 miles); their web page and brochure say up to 31 km (19 miles). Those are the maker's figures: the rider's weight, hills, kerbs, cold weather and older batteries all shorten it.
Why does each listing look different?
Each Q100 R was ordered for its first user. The seat width and depth and the footrests vary, and some chairs have extras such as elevating leg hangers, an attendant control, lights and indicators or a kerb climber. Each listing says what that chair has, and we're happy to go through it on the phone.
Will it fit round my home?
Its base is 540 mm wide (540 to 580 mm across the seat, depending on how the armrests are set). It is 1010 to 1140 mm long with legrests, and it turns within 1600 mm (1500 mm with a centre-mounted legrest). Its short length suits through-floor lifts, and the joystick (and swing-away leg hangers) swing out of the way for transfers.
What can it climb?
Slopes up to 6 degrees (the chair label pictured in Sunrise's owner's manual shows 8°). Kerbs up to 70 mm (the manual's spec sheet says 75 mm), or up to 100 mm on a chair with the optional kerb climber. The manual says never to climb or go down a kerb higher than 100 mm, and not to drive forwards down a kerb higher than 50 mm.
What is the maximum user weight?
125 kg.
Can it go in a car?
Sunrise say it can be hoisted in and out of a car. It weighs about 95 kg with batteries. The backrest folds down, leaving it 640 to 680 mm high, and the legrests and armrests come off. It is crash tested (ISO 7176-19), so the user can travel seated in it, facing forward, in a suitable wheelchair accessible vehicle.
