Before you buy a used Atom Fold
How fast and how far does the Atom Fold go?
Up to 4 mph, which makes it a Class 2 pavement scooter. Scooterpac gives up to 9 miles on one battery, or up to 18 miles on a scooter with a second battery. Scooterpac says range varies with the battery's charge and condition, the ground, the tyres and the load.
What is the maximum user weight?
120 kg (about 18 st 12 lb). Scooterpac's 2025 spec sheet and web page say 125 kg, but its user manual says 120 kg, so we give the lower figure.
How does it fold, and will it fit in my car?
It folds as one piece: pull the folding handle, push the seat down, then fold the tiller down. Folded it is 1027 mm long, 530 mm wide and 440 mm high, and Scooterpac says it fits most hatchback boots. It weighs 14.2 kg without its battery, cushions, armrests and basket (15.2 kg in the 2025 user manual).
How is it charged?
The lithium battery can be charged on the scooter, or lifted out from under the seat and charged off the scooter. A charge takes 6 to 8 hours.
Can I take it on a plane?
Scooterpac says the Atom Fold is airline approved. Airlines set their own rules and may ask for the scooter's details or a certificate, so check with yours before you book.
