The Quantum Q6 Edge is the original Q6 Edge: a 4 mph mid-wheel drive powerchair for indoors and out, sold before the Q6 Edge 2.0. Before you buy a used Q6 Edge
How fast does the Q6 Edge go, and how far?
Up to 4 mph, so it is a Class 2 powerchair, for pavements and indoors. Quantum's spec sheet gives a range of up to 15.5 miles (25 km) on its two 55Ah batteries. That is the maker's figure: the user's weight, hills, cold weather and older batteries all shorten it.
What is the maximum user weight?
136 kg (21 st 5 lb).
Will it fit round my home?
The base is 610 mm (24 inches) wide and 902 mm long without legrests. With its drive wheels in the middle, it has a turning radius of 508 mm (20 inches).
What can it climb?
Obstacles up to 76 mm (3 inches) and slopes up to 6 degrees. Its ground clearance is 63.5 mm at the suspension arm.
Can it go in a car?
It is heavy: the power base weighs 62 kg without its batteries, the seat 35.6 kg and each battery 17.24 kg. Quantum's owner's manual says it is not suitable as a seat in a vehicle. Some chairs have Quantum's optional transit securement system, which comes with its own instructions.
