Before you buy a used Q6 Edge HD

How fast does the Q6 Edge HD go, and how far?

Up to 4 mph in the UK, so it is a Class 2 powerchair, for pavements and indoors. Quantum's 2014 spec sheet gives a range of up to 15.5 miles (25 km); their 2020 spec sheet says up to 17.5 miles and their current UK page up to 20 miles. Those are the maker's figures: the user's weight, hills, cold weather and older batteries all shorten it.

What is the maximum user weight?

204 kg (32 st 1 lb), or 181 kg (28 st 7 lb) on a chair with the iLevel seat lift. Quantum's 2020 spec sheet gives up to 227 kg for UK chairs with the Synergy seat or bariatric tilt, but their 2014 spec sheet and 2015, 2019 and 2022 UK pages give 204 kg.

Will it fit round my home?

The base is 667 mm (26.25 inches) wide on standard wheels and 904 mm long without the front riggings. It turns within 502 mm.

What can it climb?

Obstacles up to 89 mm (3.5 inches), going up or down, and slopes up to 6 degrees (Quantum's 2014 sheet said 7.5°). Its lowest ground clearance is 63.5 mm, at the castor pivot.

Can it go in a car?

Not in a car boot: the power base alone weighs 65 kg, and each battery about 23 kg. It has four tie-down points for securing it in a vehicle. Whether a chair can carry its user while it travels depends on its set-up: Quantum label each chair as rated, or not rated, for that.
