Before you buy a used Kozmo Portable
How fast does the Kozmo Portable go, and how far?
Up to 3.6 mph (5.8 km/h), so it is a Class 2 powerchair, for pavements and indoors. Quantum's UK page gives a range of up to 10 miles on its two 18Ah batteries (their spec sheet says up to 13.8 miles). Those are the maker's figures: the user's weight, hills, cold weather and older batteries all shorten it.
What is the maximum user weight?
91 kg (14 st 4 lb), or 113 kg (17 st 11 lb) on a chair with swing-away legrests, by Quantum's spec and sell sheets. Quantum's UK page gives 113 kg.
Can I take it in the car?
Yes, in pieces. It comes apart into four pieces without tools: the seat (22 kg), the battery box (14.06 kg) and the two halves of the base (30.4 kg together). It is not crash tested, so nobody should sit in it while it travels in a vehicle.
Will it fit round my home?
It is 574 mm (22.6 inches) wide and 838 mm long, and it turns within 645 mm. Quantum made it for tight spaces such as narrow corridors, doorways and awkward rooms.
How do I charge it?
From its separate 3.5 amp charger. Quantum's owner's manual says to charge it for 8 to 14 hours after each day's use.
