Quantum Rehab · mid-wheel drive powerchair
Used Quantum Rehab Edge 4
The Quantum Edge 4 is a mid-wheel drive powerchair for indoors and out, and Quantum's newest Edge model. It has 7-inch castors front and rear, each with its own shock absorber, turns within 579 mm and carries up to 136 kg. Each chair was built to order for its first user, so the seat, the powered features and the top speed (4 or 7 mph) vary from chair to chair.

Before you buy a used Edge 4
How fast does the Edge 4 go, and how far?
4 mph or 7 mph, depending on how the chair was ordered: in the UK Quantum fitted 4 mph motors as standard, with 7 mph as an option. On its two 75Ah batteries, Quantum give a range of up to 18 miles. That is the maker's figure: the user's weight, hills, cold weather and older batteries all shorten it.
What is the maximum user weight?
136 kg (21 st 5 lb).
Will it fit round my home?
The base is 610 mm wide and 972 mm long without leg supports. With its drive wheels in the middle, it turns within 579 mm.
What can it climb?
Obstacles up to 73 mm, and it has 73 mm of ground clearance. Quantum do not publish a maximum slope for the Edge 4.
Can it go in a car?
Not in a car boot: the base alone weighs 69.85 kg, and each battery about 21.68 kg. It has four tie-down points for securing it in a wheelchair accessible vehicle, and Quantum say it is crash tested.
