The Monarch Smarti is a folding boot scooter that folds and unfolds itself from a remote-control key fob. It goes up to 4 mph and up to 9 miles on a charge (Monarch's figure), carries riders up to 21 stone (133 kg) and weighs 26.3 to 27.3 kg with its battery. Monarch no longer lists it; the Smarti Plus it sells now is a different scooter.

How does the Smarti fold?
By itself: press the remote-control key fob and it folds or unfolds. Monarch says it can also be opened and closed by hand. A 2019 Monarch guide says folding takes 12 seconds.
How far will it go on a charge?
Up to 9 miles, Monarch's figure. Monarch says range depends on the rider's weight, the ground, slopes, the temperature and the battery's condition. Monarch's 2016 page and a 2019 guide said up to 10 miles; we give the lower figure.
What is the maximum user weight?

How heavy is it to lift into a car?
26.3 kg with the battery and 24 kg without it, on Monarch's later pages; its 2019 and 2021 pages say 27.3 kg with the battery. It folds to 46 × 46 × 63 cm.
Is this the Smarti Plus?
No. Monarch now sells the Smarti Plus, which is a different, lighter scooter. This page is the original Smarti.
