Before you buy a used Maxer
How fast does the Maxer go?
Up to 8 mph (12.8 km/h). A switch on the dashboard sets it to 4 mph for pavements. At 8 mph it is a Class 3 scooter, so it can be used on the road.
How far will it go on a charge?
Kymco's figure is up to 35 miles (57 km) for the standard Maxer, with 80Ah batteries, and up to 45 miles (72 km) for the Maxer ER, with 100Ah batteries. The distance you get depends on the rider's weight, hills, the weather and the age of the batteries.
What is the maximum user weight?
31 stone (about 196 kg). Kymco's spec tables and owner's manual also give it as 200 kg.
What is the difference between the Maxer and the Maxer ER?
The ER (Extended Range) has bigger batteries: two 100Ah instead of two 80Ah. Kymco gives it a range of up to 45 miles instead of 35, and it weighs 153 kg instead of 138 kg. Kymco gives the same top speed, size and user weight for both.
Will it fit in a car?
Kymco does not describe it as a car-boot scooter and gives no dismantled sizes. It weighs 138 kg with its batteries (153 kg for the ER), and its heaviest part is 52.5 kg. Kymco's manual says to keep it dry and clean, so it needs a dry place to be kept and charged.
