Karma Mobility · rear-wheel drive powerchair
Used Karma Mobility Leon Versus
The Karma Leon Versus (Leon R Versus in the UK) is a rear-wheel drive powerchair for indoors and out, with suspension on all four wheels. Its Versus seat adjusts over a wide range and can take up to four powered seat functions. The top speed (6, 10 or 12 km/h) and the powered seat functions were options when new, so they differ from chair to chair.

Before you buy a used Leon Versus
How fast does the Leon Versus go, and how far?
It was built with a top speed of 6, 10 or 12 km/h (3.7, 6.2 or about 7.5 mph), depending on the chair. On 80Ah batteries Karma give up to 35 km (about 21 miles); their spec table says 35.6 km. Those are the maker's figures: the rider's weight, hills, cold weather and older batteries all shorten it.
Why does each listing look different?
The top speed, seat size, controls and powered seat functions (lift, tilt, recline and legrests) were options when the chair was new, so they vary, and some chairs have none of the powered functions. We're happy to go through what a chair has on the phone.
What is the maximum user weight?
136 kg (21 st 5 lb), including anything the user carries.
What can it climb?
Kerbs up to 50 mm. Karma's manual says never to drive up, down or across a slope steeper than 6°, and to lower the seat and keep the backrest upright on slopes.
Can it go in a car, or can I travel in it?
It weighs 182 kg with 80Ah batteries, and the heaviest part alone weighs 115.6 kg, so it is not a chair to lift into a car boot. Karma say it meets ISO 7176-19, so the user can travel seated in it in a suitable vehicle, facing forward, held with a heavy-duty four-point tie-down. Karma still advise moving to the vehicle seat whenever that is possible.
