Before you buy a used Luggie Chair

How far will the Luggie Chair go?

It depends on the battery. Freerider gives up to 7.5 miles (12 km) on the 10.5Ah battery, measured at the full user weight of 145 kg. On the 16.5Ah battery it gives up to 18 km (11.1 miles) in one place and 18.9 km (11.8 miles) in its spec table. Freerider says range varies with weight, terrain, temperature and battery condition.

How heavy is it, and how small does it fold?

It weighs 31.6 kg without its battery, and the 16.5Ah battery weighs 2.2 kg. It folds without tools to 80.6 cm long, 60.6 cm wide and 43.2 cm high (without the armrests), and has small runner wheels to wheel it along when folded.

Can I take it on a plane?

Freerider says the chair folds to go on a plane, but the battery has to come out before the chair is checked in. Its manual says the 10.5Ah battery may be carried under IATA rules, but the 16.5Ah battery is over 300 Wh and may not go on the plane. Airlines set their own rules, so check with yours before you book.

What is the maximum user weight?

145 kg (22 st 11 lb). The seat is 43.2 cm wide and 39.2 cm deep.

Where can I use it?

Indoors and on gently sloping ground outside, up to 4 mph. Freerider gives a maximum safe slope of 6 degrees and a maximum obstacle of 2.5 cm, and says it is not meant for uneven ground, rain, snow, steep slopes, sand or gravel.
