Before you buy a used Li-Tech Marathon

How fast and how far does the Li-Tech Marathon go?

Up to 4 mph, so it is a Class 2 pavement scooter. CareCo gives a range of up to 40 km (about 24.8 miles) on a charge, and its page also calls that 26 miles. CareCo says the rider's weight, the ground, slopes, stopping and starting, turning and the battery's condition all affect it.

What is the maximum user weight?

135 kg (21 st 3 lb).

Will it go in a car boot?

It comes apart without tools into five pieces: the basket, the seat, the battery pack and the front and rear sections. The heaviest is the front section at 15 kg, so check you or a helper can lift that.

How is it charged?

The lithium battery pack can be charged on the scooter or lifted out and charged indoors. CareCo's current manual says a charge takes 6 to 8 hours; its older manual says 8 to 12.

Can it manage hills and kerbs?

CareCo gives a maximum slope of 6 degrees and a maximum kerb of 40 mm, with 50 mm of ground clearance. CareCo says to drive at a kerb straight on, with both front wheels meeting it at the same time.
